  • Women gain weight when job demands are high

    [22 Jan 2019] Heavy pressures at work seem to predispose women to weight gain, irrespective of whether they have received an academic education. This is shown in a study of more than 3,800 Swedes.

  • Thirty percent fewer prostate cancer deaths with PSA screening

    [21 Jan 2019] PSA-screening cuts deaths from prostate cancer by some 30%. This is shown by research based on data on 20,000 men monitored for more than two decades. The men's initially measured PSA level proved highly significant as a predictor of future cancer risk.

  • Administering higher doses of oxytocin does not reduce the use of caesarean sections

    [17 Jan 2019] Delayed labor increases the risk of a caesarean section, even among women who receive oxytocin for augmentation of labour. The rate of caesarean section among first-time mothers is not reduced if the administered dose is doubled either, according to a dissertation from Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.
